When I first saw the image below, it honestly made me angry.
The system is broken in MANY ways and this is one of them.
The first focus should ALWAYS be the children and their safety.
When we force reunification quickly, we are often putting children right back in harms way causing even more trauma.
The hotlines made are not always taken seriously (I have witnessed this with more than one CPS visit)
The signs of behaviors are often viewed as defiant children, not as a red flag due to something that is hurting them and they do not know how to express it because they are socially/emotionally behind due to the abuse they’ve been through.
Hotlines do not link up from different counties and or different states allowing parents to “work” the system.
The system as it is, causes children to be put back in harms way too many times.
The system as I experienced it was more concerned about reunification than the trauma the children will continue to experience when placed back into unsafe situations.
We often hear that reunification is what God desires and that He wants families together.
However, I believe with all of my heart that God calls us to help the oppressed first. He would never call us to place children back in unsafe homes.
The system is broken, so many children are hurting, it doesn’t have to be this way.

Beautifully written! Couldn’t agree more!!
