You Can’t Leave Your Past Behind

I’m constantly hearing in different conversations, quotes and inspirational messages about how we need to leave our past behind.  It’s easy to say your past is behind you, just move on.  It’s harder to put that into practice; especially when you have a past full of things that aren’t always easy to talk about.

I’ve been reflecting a lot on this the past few weeks. I believe our past is something we shouldn’t always leave behind. There are important testimonies in our past that could help others.

It would have been easy for me to walk into a church of thousands of people and pretend I didn’t have a past full of bad choices before my salvation.  However, I don’t believe that’s why I traveled the roads I did.

Throughout the bible are testimonies of how God used imperfect people to reach others for Him.

So today, while your past might be difficult to talk about or think about, I encourage you to be brave and use it to God’s glory.

Pray and ask God to help use your past as a testimony to help lead others to Him.

Ask God to lead you to people who need to know they are accepted and can be used by God.

Your past doesn’t define you, how you use it does!

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those that love Him and have been called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:28

Malinda, you are in good company with the comment to not forget the past. Paul repeatedly told people of where he came from. In fact, our testimony requires us to remember where God has brought us from. I constantly tell people of what God delivered me from anytime I have the opportunity; even though it has been 41 years ago.

    Keep up the good work.
