What do you believe you stand for?
We see a world declining in biblical morals along with people claiming to follow Jesus but afraid to speak up.
What use to seem so clearly right and wrong in the past is not so clear to people anymore.
We turn our heads when we see people begging for food and money on the street corner
We turn our heads when we hear about girls at a very young age being sold into sex slavery right here in our city.
We turn out heads when we hear women are involved in domestic violence and do not safely know how to get out
We turn our heads when someone around us needs our help with something
We have women fighting for “equal” rights to be able to parade around topless because men do.
We have a society that follows the “if it feels good do it, and you only live once”
We have people from all different groups screaming and yelling for “equal”rights and if you do not agree with the way they believe, then you are the one in the wrong because you can only have an opinion if it is in agreement with theirs.
The list goes on…. and people choose not to get involved or speak up because these are messy, controversial situations that will take us out of our comfortable lifestyles.
We turn our head and remain silent letting others take care of it, letting others stand up for what you believe in.
I have a teenage daughter that has said on more than one occasion that there is no way we will all ever be equal, that equal means everyone is the same and that is not possible.
We were all created differently, in God’s image just as He wanted us to be.
If God wanted us to be equal, He would have created us all the same.
As society continues to spin out of control, it is more important than ever for those of us that claim to follow Jesus to rise up and take a stand just as God has called us to do.
It is not good enough to talk about it at home or among friends that feel the same way as you do.
As followers of Jesus we must speak up for our beliefs and values.
Is this scary and uncomfortable? Yes it is, and there will be times you feel alone as people that you thought agreed with you choose to remain silent.
What would be more scarier than speaking out as a follower of Jesus would be standing in front of Jesus and trying to explain to Him the reasons I never took a stance for Him like He asked me to. The thought of that breaks my heart.
We cannot pick and choose from the bible what we want to follow based on what feels good and ignore the rest.
If Jesus comes today, are you ready?
“If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all” Isaiah 7:9
“Be on your guard and stand firm in the faith, be courageous and strong. Do everything in love”
1 Corinthians 16:13-14
