Do You Have Time for Jesus?

I have been thinking a lot about this quote from one of my favorite people in Women’s Ministry, Lysa Terkeurst.

Every morning  I kiss and hug my husband  as I rush out the door to drop Rebekah off at school. I always watch her walk all the way in before I leave.   I look forward to hearing from them through out the day and spending time with them at night.

This week as I reflected on this quote I was thinking about what things I am chasing, and are they the right things in the right order?

Rebekah and I try to always pray together before she gets out of the car, but sometimes we get rushed and as she jumps out I am saying “Hey go in and say a prayer, we did not get to do it together.” I hate those moments… as I want to just run and grab her and put her back in the car so we can pray together.

Then there are times at night, I am so exhausted I fall asleep, now I know Shane is praying for us before he goes to sleep like he always does, but I am sleeping and do not hear it.  I get mad at myself the next morning because that is something that is so important to me.

What about Jesus?  He wants to spend time with us every day, not just on Sundays, not just when we need something. He wants us going to Him for everything through out the day.

Think of the one person on this earth you love more than anything…. and then think of Jesus.  He loves that person even more than you do, and He loves you just as much.

As sad as  I feel on those mornings when she is walking in, imagine how sad Jesus is when we do not put Him first and spend time with Him.

I know I am not alone in this area, and I am so thankful for the grace that covers us and for a loving and forgiving father that loves me and thinks I am perfect just as I am.

As you go about your weekend, stop and reflect on this quote and what you are chasing.  Together, maybe we can all start chasing Jesus a little more leaving the worldly things behind.

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.  Matthew 6:21

So we make it our goal to please him, whether we are at home in the body, or away from it.      2 Corinthians 5:9

Thank you for this post, Malinda! What a great reminder. Yes, I am one who wants to chase Jesus, although many times I get sidetracked. But, thankfully, the Lord is patient and gracious when we stumble! And, He always receives us with open arms! Keep up the good work, my friend. 🙂
